A wonderfully presented and low mileage R171 SLK55 that is in outstanding condition both mechanically and aesthetically throughout.
Chassis number F209002 was registered brand new on the 26th September 2008 by Mercedes-Benz Retail Group UK and finished in Palladium Silver metallic with AMG embossed Black Nappa leather and dark suede sports seats.
Having covered just 34,949 miles from new and present with a full Mercedes-Benz and specialist service history, it is quite clearly a low mileage, well-cared-for example and as one would expect, it drives flawlessly with everything in perfect working order.
The SLK55 has all of the original bookpacks and documentation present, alongside an A4 binder which has a host of invoices, the service history breakdown and old MOTs. It has been used somewhat sparingly in the last two years (less than 500 miles) and been stored undercover whilst on trickle charge in a fully insulated, private collection local to ourselves.
The SLK55’s full history is made up of the following service:
Inside the car you will find the perfect specification that includes the following:
The exterior of the car is outstanding with the paintwork virtually perfect (bar the very odd light stone chip) with a deep shine and no parking dings, dents or scrapes to report,
The interior of the car is similar condition, with no wear present to the leather/suede seat bolsters or any scuffs along the door cards or sills.
Originally quoted to sprint you from 0-62 in 4.9 seconds, but with magazines and car reviewers at the time of its launch recording even lower times (Car and Driver magazine reported 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds!) and onto a limited top speed of 155mph, this compact and brutish roadster is far from a slouch.
The car houses a naturally aspirated 5.4 V8 that produces 355bhp @5750rpm and 376lb ft torque @4000rpm. The engine is without a doubt a monster for such a small car (with the performance figures proving just that), however magically, it’s doesn’t seem to bother the SLK’s chassis and make it feel overly nose heavy at all.
With the power plant coupled to a seven speed 7G-Tronic gearbox with the AMG speedshift and steering wheel mounted paddle shift, the SLK55 can quite easily turn from a sedate cruiser to a B road blaster in a heart beat.
Stopping isn’t an issue either. With 340mm vented and drilled discs up front being clamped by six pot callipers and 330mm variants on the rear using a four pot setup, the 55 was definitely designed to reign in the power and get it stopped when required to.
We welcome independent inspections, as all the cars on sale by Horsepower Hangar are HPi checked and mechanically inspected, so you know that you can buy with confidence from a long established specialist.
