Presented virtually as new, this 90 has just had a no-expense-spared build using only brand new parts including the galvanised V8 chassis and is not to be confused with other substandard examples.
Powered by the freshly rebuilt Range Rover 3.9 V8 producing 200bhp, this Defender is far from the agricultural vehicle it once started life out as and is driven by the also fully rebuilt Discovery V8 automatic gearbox, with those long mechanical gear changes a thing of the past.
Originally starting life out as a 1984 Defender 90 4C, nothing of the original vehicle remains other than the few body panels that were still fit for purpose and undamaged. A complete body-off restoration was then carried out with a brand new RC galvanised chassis used as the basis of the build.
With Defenders clearly being a motoring icon, they are firmly on the radars of collectors worldwide, hence the use of the 1984 donor vehicle. Using that particular 90 has made it eligible for export to countries such as the USA, where a vehicle has to be at least 25 years old before it can be imported.
Since the car was completed on the 24th March 2020, the 90 has only covered 95 miles which were purely for shake down and testing purposes. In essence, everything is brand new and all works were carried out by Viezu Technologies in Alcester, Warwickshire, who are renowned for their incredible Land Rover restorations and customisations for clients worldwide.
Everything you see on the vehicle and everything you cannot see is new. All components even down to the wiring loom are manufactured to the exacting standards any fastidious owner would demand. With air conditioning, heated front and rear screens, electric windows and a reversing camera to name just a few of the extras, it will happily keep its occupants comfortable both on and off road.
The tinted panoramic glass blends seamlessly into the bodywork that’s painted black above the swage line giving off the air that it’s a commercial. However disguisingly, it actually houses four full size leather seats that will comfortably accomodate four adults.
